FATETELL X ADVENTURE X黑客松 PHYSICAL PRESENCE BRAND GUIDE "Let life unfold; the steady hearted quietly watches it return in many forms.” In Eastern mysticism, divination is a disciplined way of observing change and finding meaning in the present moment. FateTell drew from the wisdom of the Tao Te Ching as the spiritual core of our oracle lots.
Moving beyond the usual labels of “good” and “bad” fortune, we translated these neutral Eastern reflections into an interactive experience at Adventure X, China’s largest hackathon, in July 2025. While we may never know all that destiny holds, clarity and inner light can emerge through the quiet, intimate ritual of casting and deciphering divination lot.

FATETELL X XSO 「XI'AN SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA」 西安交響樂團 PHYSICAL PRESENCE BRAND GUIDE From August to October 2025, we co-created a poetic cultural journey. Audiences in theaters across Shanghai, Shenzhen, and beyond experienced the Tao brought to life through sweeping live music, alongside exclusive physical gifts, including Lao Tzu transparent photocards.
Alongside the performance, audiences were invited to explore their inner landscapes through our complimentary AI reading tool. Together, we made space for a quiet dialogue between Heaven, Earth, and the self.
Captivated by how the symphony bridges local heritage and global resonance, FateTell created limited-edition oracle slips for the tour, drawing on the same spirit of reimagining ancient classics through a contemporary form. Whether it is FateTell’s pioneering AI divination to the Xi’ an Symphony Orchestra majestic soundscapes, both draw inspiration from classical Chinese culture and bring them into bold new forms.

ABOUT US團隊 Levy’s career has always centered on translating complex systems into practical, efficient tools. After graduating from HKUST, he built products at ByteDance’s Lark and served as COO of Lanternfish, using AI to streamline legal workflows. Beneath his pragmatic approach to tech is a life grounded in Eastern tradition: playing the Chiba (shakuhachi flute), brewing tea, practicing yoga, and fasting Bigu.
He actually came close to becoming a Taoist priest, but instead chose to stick around and pioneer the use of LLMs at FateTell to decode Chinese metaphysics. CREATORS NOTE BRAND GUIDE FateTell began as a hackathon demo called Cyber Fortune God. At the time, we were just curious: what happens when ancient Eastern logic meets modern code?
Today, when mainstream LLMs like Gemini or Claude surface FateTell in conversations about AI and metaphysics, it feels like more than a milestone. It feels like cross-cultural resonance, visibility earned through the quiet validation of our users. The path here was anything but smooth. We endured the whiplash of team restructuring and nearly a hundred VC rejections.
At our lowest point, I half joked about busking on the street with my Chiba (shakuhachi flute) just to keep the servers running. But I never doubted the meaning behind FateTell. The recognition we received, from Channel 4 to Xinhua News, only strengthened our conviction: we are bridging the gap between esoteric tradition and everyday understanding. Yet the impact that stays with me most is closer to home.
My former mentor from Big Tech has become one of our most loyal users. She often shares how FateTell has genuinely helped her navigate her own uncertainty, and every time, she leaves me with the same reminder: “Keep building this.” It made me realize that reading a chart is not just about interpreting data. It is an act of trust.

Long before the team began training AI, Lin was already the product’s ultimate human database. My journey with FateTell began before it even had a name. When Levy and I discovered we shared the same ethical vision for decoding fate, I knew I had to be part of it. Not only to build the algorithms, but to help shape the product’s soul.
I actually used to dismiss BaZi as superstition, until a Taoist priest accurately read my past using nothing but my birth chart. That moment changed everything, and I’ve spent the decades since mastering this system. My view of destiny follows a middle path. Life is neither completely random nor absolutely predetermined. BaZi simply maps the underlying patterns of our lives.
While we rarely escape these broad strokes entirely, there is plenty of room within them to consciously steer our own course. Because BaZi is built on rigorous logic, AI can learn its patterns and help people navigate life’s highs and lows.But how we apply these rules matters far more than the tech. I’ve seen too many people profit from fear-mongering, turning a profound tradition into a toxic industry.
At FateTell, we refuse to manufacture fear. We look past the Bazi chart to see the human being, offering guidance and perspective instead of fatalistic verdicts. Our mission is to share this living tradition across borders, offering comfort and guidance to people wherever they are.

ABOUT US團隊 CREATORS NOTE BRAND GUIDE COO Shenglin Liu Born in Zhejiang’s thriving commercial culture and educated in Taiwan’s metaphysical sanctuaries, Sally Liu developed a worldview grounded in the literati traditions shared across both regions.
Before co-founding FateTell, she worked at the intersection of capital and narrative, interpreting corporate stories as a business journalist and scouting startups for venture capital. At twenty three, during my gap year, my mother suddenly collapsed and was rushed to the ICU, leaving behind a trail of immense medical costs and hidden debts.
Facing an 80% chance that she would be left in a vegetative state, I realized there are currents in life that effort alone cannot steer. That was the moment I began searching for a way to make sense of it all. In Taiwan, I learned that metaphysics is not mere mysticism, but as a rigorous discipline, closer to law or linguistics.
Human practitioners may be fallible, but AI offers a consistent, accessible medium for decoding these ancient structures. After exploring everything from Western astrology to Vedic charts, I found BaZi to be the most incisive in reading the architecture of a life. Building a product around destiny revealed an unexpected truth: fate speaks to something universal, beyond borders, languages, and demographics.
Across borders and cultures, we are all living different versions of the same human questions. If BaZi offers one of the most precise systems for reading life’s patterns, AI is the medium that can scale it and bring it to the world. Taking this global is about helping people everywhere navigate their own realities.

ABOUT US團隊 Hao was halfway through his AI Master’s at NUS when he chose to dive headfirst into the AI-native world and join FateTell. With prior stints at SenseTime and ByteDance researching text-to-image and multimodal models, he views coding less as a job and more as a high-stakes, immensely fun game capable of changing the world. He brings a rare mix of boyish curiosity and grounded maturity to the team.
Growing up with educator parents, I always found a deep sense of stability in structure and clear rules. I used to dismiss metaphysics, horoscopes, and even saw MBTI as a form of rigid fatalism, as if your life had been written in advance with no room left for choice. FateTell does the exact opposite.
Built on the simple idea of knowing yourself more deeply, it uses AI to make ancient knowledge accessible and turn it into a quiet space for self-reflection.Understanding your fate isn't about surrendering to it; it's about awakening to the highest version of yourseIf. I actually started as an early user.
My skepticism faded when I realized that AI and BaZi share the exact same underlying logic: finding patterns to understand the flow.While AI works through vast parameters, BaZi works through its own systemof Heavenly Stems and Earthly Branches. We may not know a boat’s exact coordinates in the next second, but by reading the ripples in the water, we can understand where it is headed. Why do we need this?
Ultimately, we all want to know if there’s an order to the world and where we fit into it. Humans often need a mirror to make sense of what they feel. While mindfulness anchors you in the present, BaZi widens your perspective. When you can see your life as a thirty-year arc rather than being trapped in a single moment, anxiety naturally fades.
Not because the future is guaranteed to be better, but because you realize the present is not the whole story.

Outside work, she happily disappears into anime and ACG culture.For Huan, these emotional, vibrant worlds are just the perfect seasoning to balance out a life ruled by hard data. Looking back, my path to FateTell felt remarkably like destiny. My entire career has been spent in the trenches of global market expansion.
Having witnessed the explosive global rise of apps like TikTok and a new wave of brilliant Chinese developers stepping onto the world stage, I knew exactly what I wanted: to be on the frontlines of a world-class, globally-minded AI product. Coupled with my deep personal fascination with BaZi and Eastern metaphysics, the pieces fell into place as if orchestrated by some unseen hand.
I met Lu, who is now my life partner, and through him, I connected with the FateTell team. The timing interlocked flawlessly; it was genuinely surreal. Taking this culture global has always been a profound calling for me. The goal isn't to compete with Western astrology. Rather, I believe that any culture with this level of depth requires people to actively participate in its transmission.
Simply allowing more of the world to experience the resonance of Eastern philosophy is a deeply meaningful endeavor in itself.

ABOUT US團隊 CREATORS NOTE BRAND GUIDE Yanan Gu Head of Design Raised in the lower Yangtze River basin, a region of flowing waters and misty landscapes, Yanan Gu is naturally drawn to the aesthetics of negative space. Self-taught, she believes passion fuels relentless effort, and that effort is a talent of its own. Yanan has built her design practice across both Silicon Valley startups and indie development.
Before joining FateTell, she led design for Bouncie, a tennis tracking and journaling app, and PagePop, a Kindle companion app for easier reading transfer and tracking. I have to believe in a project’s meaning to do it justice. Fate- Tell resonated with me deeply. My favorite detail in the Annual Readings is the solar terms.
Dynamic shadows, we make the flow of time visible, from the shortest shadows of the summer solstice to the longest shadows of the winter solstice. As users scroll, the timeline is not only read, but felt. I’m hesitant about the word Fate, but I do believe we are all born into circumstances we did not choose. BaZi is simply a language for reading the patterns we are born into.
When an unfamiliar system accurately reflects your inner state, it does not feel like fatalism. It feels like the relief of realizing your feelings are valid. It’s less about exporting Eastern aesthetics and more about finding real resonance. We reject superficial cultural packaging.
Instead, we lean into restraint, negative space, and asymmetry to reach something more universal: the human curiosity about where we come from and where we are going. It’s about finding the place where different cultures can truly meet. I’m not sure we’ve fully achieved it yet, but it’s the direction I design toward every day.
